I expect to see a number of posts under this topic of escapades from school. I remember one where Sosar Shanmugavel and I decided to go see a movie in Ooty. We climbed over Fernhill one afternoon and saw the Tamil movie Kalai Kovil in some dingy theatre whose name escapes me. The only thing we could afford after the movie tickets was a packet of rat sweets (Jeera Mittai). Rat sweets were a common currency in our schooldays – most things were valued by asking “How many rat sweets for that?” Stamps, matchbox labels and other such collectibles were swapped for humongous quantities of rat sweets.
